20th Anniversary!!

We thought we could go somewhere far and exotic for our anniversary but as usual our funds kept us dreaming so we went to Las Vegas again. We did that for our honeymoon so why not do it again for our 20th. We spent the week and had heaps of fun. Mum looked after Erana Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri from 8am to when Tyrell picked her up after school. Thursday Mina stayed home to watch her.

9/14/14
After sacrament we came home to get ready. We got everything ready for the kids. A dinner and chore schedule and things that need to be done while we are gone. We left around 12:30pm. We drove the Journey which was nice. Stopped for gas in Beaver. We got to the Stratosphere around 6pm pst. Our 2 nights stay is free for taking the vacation package sales pitch at the Cancun hotel in April 2013. Went to our room and relaxed for a bit. Then went to the retail level and looked around and got McDs for dinner to take to our room.

9/15/14
We got up then went and had breakfast at Roxy's Diner on the Casino level. I got a nice omelet and Candi got some pina colada french toast and we split each meal. It was good. We walked around some before going up the tower to do rides. We got a day pass, took some photos and rode a few rides. We didn't do the spin one for fear of getting sick. It's hot in Las Vegas still, in the mid to upper 90's. So we went to the pool after for an hour or 2. Went to the room for a while then ate dinner at the World Carnival buffet at the Rio Hotel. It was nice. Lots of different foods. I tried all the desserts. We went back to the Stratosphere for a show then went back up the tower for rides at midnight. The view is awesome at night with all the lights. We kept riding the blast off ride. Candi likes that one the best. It's the one that shoots you up the tower and bounces up and down a few times. It was a long but fun day. I love being with Candi on dates and vacations, she is so fun (when she's in a good mood), makes my life enjoyable. I hope I'm the same to her. But I can't think about the kids too long or I start missing them.

9/16/14
We checked out around 10:30am and went to the North Premium Outlet mall that wasn't too far from the Stratosphere. It was a hot day. It was an out door mall and it felt nice going into the a/c stores. Candi looked at a lot of stuff but didn't buy anything. She wasn't too impressed. We ate lunch there. Got a nice philly steak and cheese sandwich. We then drove the Showcase mall on the strip and parked in their parking lot and walked across the connecting bridge on the 5th level. We went to Ross first. Candi had a couple items to buy but the line was so long she didn't get them. We went to the Cola store and got the float tray which gives you 8 small floats of all the flavors. We were floated out after that. We checked in to our new hotel around 3:30pm. Tower 3, room 8-805 in the MGM Signature. It is a nice place. Has a kitchen and big whirlpool hot tub. Had a balcony. It was the 8th floor. I was hoping for one higher. There are 38 in all. We walked down to look at the pool. Then we walked the walk way to the main MGM hotel and looked at stores in the retail section. We stopped at the food court and had McD's for dinner. It was the cheapest one. We kept looking and ended up going across the bridge to NY NY and looked at some stores there. Candi wanted to find Ty Beanie boos for the kids. We walked back to our room and had a nice hot tub.

We slept in then got up to go to lunch at the Bacchanal buffet at Caesar's Palace. We got there around 11:30am. It's a fancy place with heaps of different kinds of foods. Was like Rio's but some different stuff. The desserts were marvelous. Loved the mango pudding and sorbet. I tried them all again. Candi stuffed herself silly. She had heaps of crabs legs again. We walked off the buffet in the forum shops. We stopped at a place so Candi could try on vintage swim wear but didn't buy anything. Stopped a H&M as well which is where the old toy shop with the trojan horse used to be. We snapped a few photos at the same spot we did at Caesars 20 years ago on our honeymoon trip. We went back to the hotel and went to the pool for a while and sun tanned until the sun went behind a building. Then we just hung out in our room. Had a hot tub again. I uploaded the anniversary video I made to facebook. Heaps of people commented on it. It was a nice anniversary day. We called the kids to see how they're doing. They seemed to be doing just fine without us.

Our stay included a $50 credit for food at certain MGM places so we went to the MGM buffet for breakfast. It used about 35 of the 50. We had juice and hot chocolate and heaps of food. It was good. We went back to the room before we walked up the road to the Miracle mile shops at the Planet Hollywood hotel area. We walked and looked. Bought a few things for the kids. Went to the Paris hotel and looked around before going up the Eiffel tower. We stayed up there to enjoy the view for about 25 minutes before going back down. We stopped at the Sugar factory to have a mango sorbet before walking back to the hotel. We went to the pool again for an hour or so to lay in the sun. Later on we walked to MGM again and crossed the bridge to Tropicana's but didn't go in, just took some photos. We crossed the bridge to Excaliburs and went in to try and win some stuffed toys but failed. I tried a few times with a string cutting game to win a minecraft doll. We crossed the bridge to Ny Ny and then over to MGM. We stopped at McD's again and got some dinner before going back to the room.

It's time to go. Man the week went by fast. We had so much fun together. We wish we could stay longer or go out like this more often. We got up early enough to go to the breakfast buffet again to use the last $15 on the credit. We get there and find out it is brunch on Fridays and the price goes up $30 each. I said to still pay and eat. It was good but we had feelings of regret after for paying that much. Oh well. We went back to the room, packed up and checked out. We filled up then drove off. We stopped in St. George at a gas station just to get my vearings on where the local Ross store is. Candy went in and bought lots of lollies for the kids. The Ross store was just down further on the same road. I bought me a new pair of Doc Martin shoes for church. Kinda look like nomads but nicer. After we stopped next door to get a new plunger for the house at Lowes. The kids blocked the upstairs toilet the day after we left and Tyrell couldn't fix it cause the plunger was broke. We drove on and stopped in Beaver and got an ice cream. I had coconut almond and Graham Cracker ice cream and Candi had licorice. Candi drove most of the way until we switched back when her neck started to hurt. We got home around 6:30pm or so. It was nice to see the kids again. We gave the kids their treats. Tyrell got the plunger for a gift for a joke. I don't think he was impressed. I ended up unclogging it. When I opened the lid, GROSS! Dried, brown encrusted tutae all around the bowl! Blimmin' kids!

Mina's 15th Birthday

9/7/14
Mina's birthday was on a Sunday. We had Stake conference. We ate dinner and opened presents before Candi went to work at 2pm. Later on around 6:30pm we had Tres Leches cake and Mum, Heather and Scott and kids and Jared and family came. For her birthday Mina had a sleep over Friday night with her friends Julie and Carly. Candi and I took her out Saturday night to the Chinese Gourmet buffet which is really good. We had gone the night before for our date and we suggested it to Mina. So we had buffet twice in a row.

Mina tried out for her school's soccer team on a whim and made the varsity team as a defender and plays goalie on the jv team. She tries all sorts of sports and does well but doesn't excel at one sport because she doesn't stick with one. She has done basketball and volleyball for Bennion. We love her so much. She's growing up so fast. September 1st was Labor Day so I had it off but didn't do too much. Can't remember what we did.

Wedding Re-Enactment Photos

9/5/14
Friday we went to the SL Temple with Jaxon, Leila and Erana. We had Jaxon take photos of Candi and I as we recreated some of our wedding photos for our 20th anniversary. Jaxon ended up doing a good job with them even though we had to coax him a bit to start with and then try to wipe the remnants of an annoyed look off our faces as he took them. I'm going to make a video out of them.
